Kurt Jackson was recently awarded the great honour of being named a Bard of the Cornish Gorsedh. Kurt has taken the Bardic Name Lymner Bardh an Howlsedhes (The Painter Poet of the West in the Cornish language).

Bards are elected by the Gorsedh Council and the honour of Bardship is awarded to people who have given exceptional service to Cornwall by a manifestation of the Celtic spirit or by service to Cornwall, to people who qualify by a high degree of proficiency in the Cornish language and people of distinction who, in the opinion of the Gorsedh Council, should be received as Bards of Honour.

“I was delighted to have been invited by the Cornish Gorsedh to become a Bard – it feels like a real honour, a real recognition of my career in Cornwall, and as part of the wider Cornish community. The ceremony was extraordinary – something quite bizarre within that rich tapestry of Cornish life – it felt very special and welcoming and quite humbling.

“I dedicate this honour to my wife Caroline as an essential part of my life and creativity.
