Kurt Jackson talked to BBC News about the recent procession of storms hitting Cornwall and the effect of climate change on one of his favourite watercourses, the Kenidjack Valley stream.

Kurt and a host of other Cornwall based creatives met BBC Arts Reporter Emma Ruminski to discuss how the storms have reshaped the landscape as well as encouraged new creativity.

We have welcomed another 30,000 visitors to our exhibitions at the Jackson Foundation over the course of 2024, while further afield, Kurt has had exhibitions at The Base at Greenham, The National Maritime Museum Falmouth and Penlee House Gallery & Museum, Penzance.

Two new monographs were released this year, Kurt Jackson’s Rivers and Oak, and Kurt was left speechless after being named both an Honorary Commodore by The National Maritime Museum and a Bard of the Cornish Gorsedh for promoting Cornish Identity and Culture through Visual Art and Poetry. Less welcome events were a leak in the Jackson Foundation roof short-circuiting the electrics and Kurt requiring a knee replacement. Both these things seem to be mended though, so fingers crossed…

2024 has seen the Jackson Foundation ramp up it’s educational programme, with students from across the country taking part in cross-curricular workshops with our new education officer. 2025 is shaping up to be a typically busy year within Kurt Jackson’s orbit, with two new exhibitions at the Jackson Foundation and a couple of (to be announced) shows at other interesting venues. Meanwhile, we encourage you to save the date of March 5th, with Kurt’s Biodiversity the inaugural exhibition at the newly transformed Royal Cornwall Museum Truro (details to follow in the New Year).

Kurt Jackson features in the September issue of prestigious interior design magazine House and Garden, who were granted rare access “inside the studio of polymath artist and environmental activist Kurt Jackson”.

Journalist Fiona Mckenzie Johnston and photographer Joshua Monaghan visited Jackson, to intrigued by his stature as an artist and activist whose diverse work reflects his interest in natural history and the environment.
